Popular Sambalpuri singer Rukhsana Bano died during treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. 27-year-old Rukhsana was undergoing treatment for scrub typhus. However, the hospital has not revealed the exact cause of her death which occurred on the night of Wednesday, September 18. Singer Rukhsana Bano’s mother and sister have alleged that a rival singer from western Odisha has poisoned her. However, they did not reveal the identity of the artist. They also claimed that Rukhsana was also receiving threats for a long time. This news has caused mourning in the music industry.

Rukhsana Bano’s sister Ruby Bano told PTI, ‘Rukhsana fell ill after drinking juice while shooting in Bolangir about 15 days ago. She was admitted to a hospital in Bhawanipatna on August 27. After initial treatment, she was referred to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir and later shifted to a private hospital in Bargarh when her condition deteriorated. Later, when there was no improvement in her health condition, she was brought to AIIMS Bhubaneswar.’ The deceased singer’s mother also released a video message reiterating these claims which is becoming increasingly viral on social media.

Hospital sources informed that 27-year-old Rukhsana was being treated for a bacterial disease called ‘scrub typhus’. She died during that time. There is no mention of poison in the post-mortem report. The news of Rukhsana Bano’s death has created mourning in the music industry. Rukhsana’s fans are also paying emotional tribute to her on social media.
