Rajya Sabha member P. Chidambaram of Congress targeted the central government on Saturday over the increase in unemployment and economic slowdown. He said, the government must admit that it has made a mistake and request former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to advise on the sinking economy.
Chidambaram said – Modi government anti-poor government
Addressing the students on the subject of Budget 2020-21, Chidambaram said, ‘This is the poorest anti-government ever. Rural India and the agricultural sector are in poor condition. At least the government can do so much to admit the mistake and ask Dr. Manmohan Singh to come and advise us.
Taking a dig at Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, he compared the Budget-2020 speech to ‘Satyanarayana Katha’. Chidambaram said, ‘Why does the Finance Minister not want to tell the economic situation of the country? If I had read the story of Satyanarayana, I would have known what he said while presenting the budget.
In India’s history, GDP has never fallen for six consecutive quarters. I don’t know what will happen in the seventh quarter. Input has been declining for the last eight months and this government is denying it. He called demonetisation and GST as two major mistakes. He clearly said that the BJP-led NDA government has proved inefficient and helpless in handling the economy.
