Chinese mobile companies OnePlus, iQoo, Poco accused of arbitrariness, demand from government to cancel license

Chinese mobile companies OnePlus, iQOO and Poco have been accused of arbitrariness. Mobile retailers have demanded the government to cancel the licenses of these companies. These Chinese companies have been accused of anti-competitive practices in India, due to which other brands are suffering losses. All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA) has sought intervention of Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in this matter.

Chinese companies are acting arbitrarily

According to a Money Control report, AIMRA Chairman and Founder Kailash Lakhayani has said that despite CCI reports and constant follow-up, these companies continue to maintain exclusive partnerships with e-commerce platform Amazon and distribute products through retail stores. They are continuously violating the rules by refusing to do so. Further, unauthorized diversion of products from e-commerce to retail channel disrupts fund rotation and deprives the exchequer of the opportunity to benefit from additional rotational GST.

All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA), the body representing more than 1.5 million mobile retailers in the country, has said that it is important to protect local businesses and maintain fair trade practices in the country.
