A big update has come regarding BSNL 5G service. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has given the timeline of BSNL’s 5G service network upgrade. Highlighting the recent growth in the telecom sector, the Union Minister said that telecom manufacturing zones will soon be created in India. The Central Government is already supporting the Made in India campaign, due to which India is continuously making records in exporting smartphones.
Emphasis on telecom equipment manufacturing
The equipment installed in BSNL’s 4G/5G towers is completely indigenous. The government has decided to manufacture telecom equipment in the country. To improve the network of BSNL, a target has been set to install 1 lakh new 4G/5G mobile towers. The Union Minister said that the government has two options. First, use foreign equipment to upgrade BSNL’s 4G service or work on making an indigenous solution. The government has chosen the path of indigenous solution, for which help will be taken from Indian companies.
At present, India has become the fifth country in the world which has developed its own 4G system. With the installation of 1 lakh mobile towers, the government has gradually started working towards 5G system upgrade. While giving an update on BSNL 5G service, the Union Minister said that during April-May next year, about 1 lakh mobile towers will be installed, after which the work of upgrading the 5G system will be done.

The Communications Minister also said that BSNL in collaboration with C-DoT has successfully developed the core 4G system. Apart from this, the company has innovated Tejas Network RAN, Q BTS. In the recently held Mobile World Congress 2024, BSNL had said a big thing about its 5G service. BSNL has started testing 5G. BSNL’s 5G service is being tested in some selected network areas. BSNL 5G network will be available across the country in the coming few years.
