The company is emphasizing on increasing manufacturing in India. The company has increased the number of its manufacturing units in India. Foxconn has been assembling Apple’s iPhones in India for many years. At the same time, Pegatron Corporation and Tata Electronics have also started assembly of Apple’s iPhone.
Apple is focusing on India due to the government’s Make in India policy and the country’s technology capabilities including local subsidies, skilled workforce. iPhone manufacturing in India is being done on the outskirts of Chennai. Currently Foxconn is the largest supplier of iPhone in India. At the same time, the electronics manufacturing unit of Tata Group has exported iPhones worth $ 1.7 billion to Karnataka from April to September.
