Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s AI dream project seems to be eclipsed because of bees. Zuckerberg has given the reason behind this. Meta, one of the world’s leading technology companies, was about to prepare its AI data center, but a rare species of bees has stopped the work of this project. This AI data center of Mark Zuckerberg was to be built in a place where nuclear power could be easily available.
AI dream project on hold
According to American media reports, a rare species of bees has been found where this AI data center was to be built, due to which this dream project now seems to be on the back burner. Mark Zuckerberg was going to make a deal with an American nuclear power energy operator for this project. In last week’s report, an employee related to the company said that it is difficult to get regulatory permission due to the discovery of a rare species of bee. Even if permission is granted, the company will have to follow many government regulations, which may hinder the work of this project.
Meta looking for options
According to the report, Mark Zuckerberg, while meeting with his employees, said that if this deal had gone ahead, Meta would also have had a nuclear powered AI data center. However, the company is still willing to find another way to make this dream project a reality. Zuckerberg told employees that now they will have to find somewhere else because rival companies are investing in nuclear power.
Google and Microsoft are challenging
Companies like Google and Microsoft can prove to be big rivals for Meta in the AI sector. Both these companies have been working in the AI sector for many years. Google has even announced that from 2030 the company will use nuclear power plants to power its data centers. A nuclear reactor will be prepared for this. Google has started work in collaboration with start-up company Kairos Power for this project. At the same time, Microsoft and Amazon have also made preparations for AI data centers running on nuclear energy.
AI data center
A large amount of data is stored in AI data centers, using which AI tools function. Large and complex equipment is installed in AI data centers, which requires a large amount of electricity. Nuclear energy is considered suitable for providing continuous electricity to these data centres. In addition to storage systems, the equipment used in AI data centers includes high performance servers and networking infrastructure.
