Pay attention before making online reservation from IRCTC, rules for booking tickets have changed from today.

IRCTC

IRCTC’s new rules for advance ticket booking have come into effect from today i.e. 1 November 2024. If you are also using IRCTC app or website for railway reservation, then you should be aware of this new rule of Railways. Indian Railways has now reduced its limit by changing the rules of advance ticket booking. The official online ticket booking platform of Indian Railways has now reduced the period for booking advance tickets from 120 days to 60 days.

Rules changed from today

Indian Railways had announced this last month. Along with IRCTC platform, this new rule is also applicable on any third party ticket booking platform or app such as Paytm, Ixigo, Make My Trip. Also, this rule will also apply to offline or counter tickets. In view of the increasing waiting list in trains, Indian Railways has made this change in the rules of advance ticket booking. Especially four months before the festive season, tickets in many trains were getting full, due to which many railway passengers were facing problems.

Through the IRCTC platform, users will now be able to book advance tickets 60 days in advance instead of 120 days. Regular tickets can be booked anytime through the app and website. At the same time, Tatkal tickets can be booked 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train. Tatkal ticket window opens at 10 am for AC and at 11 am for non-AC. In such a situation, if you also want to book a train ticket in advance, then now you can book the ticket only 60 days in advance.

IRCTC platform upgraded

IRCTC has upgraded its platform a lot in the last few years. Now users do not have to face any problem in booking tickets online. Railways has also changed the rules for booking tickets through IRCTC in the last few years. If you are logged in to the app or website before 8 am, you will be logged out at exactly 8 am. To book train tickets, you will have to log in again.

At the same time, for Tatkal ticket you will have to log in at exactly 10 am and 11 am. Apart from this, only one PNR number can be generated once you log-in. For the second ticket i.e. PNR, you will have to log in to the IRCTC app or website again. This decision of Indian Railways has been taken to stop black marketing of tickets.
