After the agreement on Ladakh border, NSA Ajit Doval will now go to China, know on which issue will be discussed

Ajit Doval

Ajit Doval China Visit: The ice on relations between India and China has appeared to be melting in recent times. There has been some softening in relations between the two countries in the past few days due to the border dispute. After disengagement at the friction points of Depsang and Demchok, the round of talks between the two countries has started once again. Meanwhile, India’s Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval is going to visit China soon. During this time he can meet his counterpart and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

PM Modi and President Xi had taken the decision

During his visit to China, Ajit Doval will lead the Indian delegation in the new edition of the Special Representative talks on the border issue. This talk will take place after a gap of about five years. Earlier, the Special Representatives (SR) talks were held in New Delhi in December 2019. The decision to restore this mechanism of talks was taken in the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan on October 23.

Special representative talks have not taken place in five years

A source said the SR talks could take place at the end of this month or in early January. No official information has been given yet as to where the SR talks will take place. India and China had prepared for special representative talks in their diplomatic talks on December 5. India’s special representative for the talks is National Security Advisor Doval, while the Chinese side is led by Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Due to the eastern Ladakh border dispute, no special representative talks were held in the last five years.

India-China relations had become tense

The military standoff in eastern Ladakh between India and China began in May 2020 and resulted in severe tensions in relations between the two neighboring countries as a result of the Galwan Valley clash in June that year. The standoff ended after the completion of the process of withdrawal of troops from Depsang and Demchok under an agreement. The agreement for the withdrawal of troops was finalized on 21 October. Two days after the agreement was signed, Modi and Xi held talks on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan city of Russia. In the meeting, both sides had agreed to restore several dialogue mechanisms, including Special Representative talks on the border issue.
