Politics is tough: Trump
Trump said that “Politics is hard and it’s not always a good world, but it’s a good world today.” In fact, this meeting is a traditional part of the peaceful transfer of power. However, earlier in the last term, Donald Trump himself had refused to meet Joe Biden in this traditional meeting.
Expecting smooth change: Biden
Both the leaders sat on yellow chairs in front of a fire place in the White House. Biden told Trump that his team would “make every effort to make sure you are comfortable” and have everything they need. “Congratulations and I look forward to a smooth transition,” Biden said.
Trump responded, “Politics is hard and it is, in many cases, not a very nice world, but it is a nice world today and I very much appreciate a change.” White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients and new Chief of Staff Susie Wills is attending the meeting.
