Newly elected US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that America should avoid military action in Syria. This is not our fight, he said in a post on social media.
This statement of Trump has come at a time when the rebels have reached the suburbs of the capital Damascus. He said Syrian President Bashar al-Assad does not deserve American support to remain in power.
Trump said the rebels could potentially remove Assad from power. The President-elect also condemned America’s overall handling of the 13-year-old war in Syria.
He wrote in the post on Saturday, there is an atmosphere of chaos in Syria, but it is not our friend and America should have nothing to do with it. This is not our fight.
