Another blow to Hezbollah, drone commander killed in airstrike, Israel claims

Airstrike

Tel Aviv: The Israeli army is heavily bombing Hezbollah’s bases in Lebanon. Meanwhile, the Israeli army has claimed that it has killed Hezbollah’s drone commander by carrying out an airstrike on an apartment building in the suburbs of Beirut. The name of the killed commander is Mohammad Hussein Surour. However, Hezbollah has not immediately commented on this claim of Israel.

Airstrike in a suburb of Beirut

Israel carried out a massive airstrike on Hezbollah’s bases. The TV station of Lebanon’s Hezbollah group has reported an Israeli airstrike in a suburb of Beirut. Al-Manar TV, however, did not give detailed information about this attack. But the Israeli army claimed that it had attacked south of Beirut.

Earlier the missile unit commander had died

This attack comes two days after a similar attack in which a senior commander of Hezbollah’s missile unit was killed. Meanwhile, an extreme right-wing ally in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has threatened to leave the coalition if a permanent ceasefire is reached with Hezbollah. Jewish Power Party chief Itamar Ben-Gvir threatened to suspend cooperation with the coalition if a temporary agreement is reached. He said, “If the temporary ceasefire becomes permanent, we will resign from the government.”

It was the latest sign of Netanyahu’s hard-line government’s displeasure with international ceasefire efforts. If Ben-Gvir leaves the coalition, Netanyahu would lose his parliamentary majority and his government could fall, though opposition leaders have said they would support a ceasefire deal.
