Jerusalem: Israeli lawmakers have passed a law during the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. Israeli lawmakers have passed a law that bans the UN agency from aiding the people of Gaza. Due to this law, the work of the United Nations agency providing aid in Gaza will now be hampered. With the passage of the law, the main UN agency will no longer be able to provide help to the people of Gaza. Under the passed law, the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) will be prohibited from carrying out any activity inside Israel. However, this ban will not be effective immediately.
Israel has been criticizing
Israel has never been in favor of UNRWA and has been critical of it. Now the law that has been passed has 92 votes in its favor and 10 against it. With this step of Israel, it has now become clear that it will be difficult for the people of Gaza to get help in the coming days. UNRWA spokesperson Juliet Touma has condemned Israel’s move. He described it as insulting and said that it would affect humanitarian operations in Gaza and many parts of the West Bank.
