Bomb threat received on Vistara's Delhi-London flight

A Vistara flight from Delhi to London was diverted to Frankfurt on Friday after a bomb threat was received. The airline company gave this information. An airline spokesperson said in a statement early Saturday that the plane had landed safely at Frankfurt Airport and mandatory checks were being carried out. He said that after getting approval from the security agencies, the plane will fly towards its destination.

The spokesperson said, “Vistara flight ‘UK17’ from Delhi to London on October 18 received a security threat on social media. Following the protocol, all concerned authorities were immediately informed about this and the pilots diverted the flight to Frankfurt as a precautionary measure.

According to an official aware of the matter, there was a bomb threat on the plane. Meanwhile, Akasa Air said that its flight number ‘QP 1366’, which departed from Bengaluru to Mumbai on Friday, had received a security alert shortly before take-off.

“As part of safety procedures, all passengers had to be deboarded as local authorities were required to follow necessary procedures,” the airline wrote on social media platform X. We request you to understand this. Our team has made every effort to minimize your inconvenience.

In the last few days, about 40 flights operated by Indian airlines had received bomb threats, although all of these were later proven to be false. The Civil Aviation Ministry is planning to implement strict rules to curb incidents of false bomb threats being received by airlines, with offenders being put on the ‘no-fly’ list. The purpose of this list is to identify unruly passengers and ban them from boarding the aircraft.
