BRICS Summit: PM Modi and Xi Jinping will meet today, know why the world is keeping an eye on this meeting

PM Narendra Modi and Xi Jinping

BRICS Summit 2024: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Kazan, Russia to attend the BRICS summit. A historic meeting is going to be held in Kazan city today. The eyes of the whole world including America and western countries are on this meeting. In the meeting, the heads of state of the two giant countries of Asia are going to hold a formal conversation after five years. Today a bilateral meeting is to be held between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Considering the situation prevailing all over the world, this meeting is considered very important in many ways.

Modi-Jinping met in 2019

PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping had earlier faced each other at the BRICS summit held in Brazil in 2019. After this, both the leaders are going to meet each other during the BRICS conference being held in Russia in 2024. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has confirmed the bilateral talks to be held between the two leaders in a press conference in Kazan city of Russia.

Agreement reached between India and China

It is worth noting that this meeting is taking place between the two countries after the agreement reached between India and China regarding patrolling on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh. The military standoff that has been going on between India and China in eastern Ladakh for the last several years now seems to be ending. China has confirmed that an agreement has been reached with India to end the standoff between the two armies in eastern Ladakh.

There was tension after the Galwan clash

Let us tell you that on June 15-16, 2020, soldiers of India and China came face to face in the Galwan Valley of eastern Ladakh. There was a violent clash between the two sides, in which 20 Indian soldiers were martyred, while more than 40 Chinese soldiers were also killed. However, the People’s Liberation Army has not officially confirmed the death of its soldiers till date. Four years after this incident, India and China have now taken forward steps to end the deadlock, the result of which is an agreement between the two countries.

Five Eyes has the answer?

It is also worth noting that Canada has been continuously making baseless allegations against India for the last few days. In this, many Five Eyes countries including America are also seen taking its side. This meeting between Jinping and PM Modi is also being seen as a strong response against the Five Eyes Group. Five Eyes can be understood as a group formed by five countries to spy around the world. These five countries share the inputs received from espionage among themselves. This club includes America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Britain.
