Beijing: China on Friday announced visa-free entry for citizens of nine other countries in a bid to boost tourism and business travel to boost its lagging economy. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said that from November 30, travelers from Bulgaria, Romania, Malta, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Estonia, Latvia and Japan will be able to stay in China for 30 days without a visa.
Number of countries will become 38
After this new announcement by China, the number of countries which have been included in the visa free scheme since last year will increase to 38. Earlier only three countries were allowed visa-free entry but this scheme was ended during the Covid-19 global pandemic.

try to improve relations
Lin said that earlier, during visa-free entry, only 15 days stay in China was allowed, which is being extended. China is promoting exchanges among students, academics and others in an effort to improve its once tense relations with other countries. (Language)
