Taiwan Typhoon Krathon: After wreaking havoc in the Philippines, Cyclone Krathon is now moving towards Taiwan. In view of the storm, the Taiwanese government has taken precautionary measures. On Wednesday, all offices, schools-colleges and financial markets have been closed in large parts of the country including the capital Taipei. Hundreds of flights were stopped in Taiwan on Wednesday due to the storm.

Storm can cause devastation

The forecast issued by Taiwan’s Meteorological Department has said that this is a storm, which can cause major devastation. Crathon will cause huge waves on the coast and torrential rains. In view of the situation, the Taiwan government has advised people to stay at home and also to stay away from the sea, rivers and mountains.

Government made preparations

Taiwan’s meteorological department said the typhoon was expected to make landfall between Kaohsiung and its neighboring city of Tainan on Thursday morning, after which it would move along the west coast towards the capital, Taipei. Meanwhile, the government of Taiwan has kept 38 thousand army personnel ready in standby mode to deal with the storm.

The effect of the storm is visible

According to Reuters report, Typhoon Krathon is moving towards Taiwan. It has been raining in Taiwan’s coastal areas ahead of the storm, causing landslides on State Highway 9. Traffic was disrupted between Su’ao in Yilan County and Chongde in Hualien. Several vehicles became stuck near the Huide Tunnel, but no injuries were reported.
