Washington: Newly elected US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that America should avoid military action in Syria. “This is not our fight,” he said in a post on social media. This statement of Trump has come at a time when the rebels have reached the suburbs of the capital Damascus. He said Syrian President Bashar al-Assad does not deserve American support to remain in power. Trump said that because Russia is an ally of Assad, embroiled in a war with Ukraine, it ‘seems to be unable to stop what is happening in Syria.’
‘America has nothing to do with it’
The president-elect also condemned America’s overall handling of the 13-year-long war in Syria. “Syria is in chaos, but it is not our friend and America should have nothing to do with it. This is not our fight. Don’t get involved in it,” he wrote in the post on Saturday.
Rebels capture big cities
Meanwhile, let us also tell here that the rebels have captured three big cities of Syria, these include Aleppo, Homs and Daraa. Rebels have surrounded the capital Damascus. Syria’s rebel group ‘Jihadist Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’ group (HTS) chief Abu Mohammed al-Golani had said in an interview to ‘CNN’ from Syria that the purpose of the attack is to oust Assad’s government from power.
