Former Defense Minister of South Korea used underwear to commit suicide, know what happened next

South Korea Ex-Minister Suicide Attempt: Investigation is ongoing into the implementation of martial law in South Korea. Meanwhile, former Defense Minister Kim Yong-Hyun, arrested in this case, has attempted suicide. The situation was brought under control after Kim was found trying to hang himself with a rope made from underwear in the bathroom of the Dongbu detention center in eastern Seoul on Tuesday night, according to police. The police said in its statement that the former defense minister attempted suicide but was rescued and his condition is stable.

The police had arrested

Shin Yong Hye, Commissioner General of the Korea Correctional Service, said Kim tried to commit suicide but was saved. Kim was arrested on Wednesday after a Seoul court issued a warrant against him on charges of playing a key role in martial law and abuse of power. Kim is the first person arrested after martial law was ordered on December 3.

Political upheaval caused by martial law

Notably, Yun and his associates are currently facing charges of rebellion. Travel ban has been imposed on many including the President. President Yoon Sook Yeol had declared emergency martial law on Tuesday (03 December) night, but it was revoked after parliament voted against it on Wednesday. Martial law was in force only for a few hours. This incident of martial law has shaken the politics of the country.
