Beijing: The Chinese government is pushing its citizens to have more children. The government has announced several policies, including subsidies for more children and tax cuts for parents. This is being done so that couples can be encouraged to have more children and the demographic crisis can be prevented from deepening further.
Cabinet prepared 13 measures
The State Council or the Union Cabinet has issued instructions in this regard on Monday. It outlines 13 targeted measures to increase delivery support services, expand child care systems, strengthen support in education, housing and employment, and create a social environment conducive to delivery. Subsidy will be given
According to government media reports, this new initiative of the government also includes improving the system of providing subsidy on delivery and relief from personal tax related to delivery. Further key provisions include extending the benefits of the Maternity Insurance Scheme to individuals with flexible employment and rural migrant workers, who are already part of the Basic Medical Insurance Scheme.

Appropriate labor management and assisted reproductive technology services will be added to the list of medical services eligible for insurance reimbursement, CGTN reported. One user commented on microblogging platform Weibo that these measures are like “you are buying a Ferrari and the government is giving you a 100 yuan coupon”.
Increasing elderly population in China
Let us tell you that the number of elderly people in China’s population of 1.4 billion is increasing rapidly. At present, 14 percent of the total population of the country is above 65 years of age. According to news agency Xinhua, China’s population aged 60 years and above is expected to reach 300 million by the end of 2023. This number will exceed 40 crore by 2035 and reach 50 crore by 2050.
Old age homes being built in schools
According to recent reports, thousands of well-known kindergartens have been closed in China due to decline in birth rate and decrease in enrollment of children. Schools are being converted into old age homes and the staff there are being trained to take care of the elderly.
