A court on Tuesday denied bail to Bangladeshi Hindu religious leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu and upheld the sedition case filed against him earlier this month, allegedly over his outspoken stance on minority rights in the country. Prabhu, a monk who had led several protests against atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh, was arrested by the detective branch of the Dhaka Police on November 25 at the Dhaka airport.
Sources said authorities stopped Prabhu from leaving the country and detained him at Dhaka airport and took him to an undisclosed location. Regarding the entire matter, ISKCON Kolkata Vice President Radharaman Das said that the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu is a very unfortunate incident. He has become the face of the Bangladeshi opposition. For more than 100 days now, minorities of Bangladesh are being attacked, their women are being raped and kidnapped. In such a situation, Bangladeshi minorities united and Chinmoy Krishna Das became the face of protest.
He said that the Bangladeshi government is somehow trying to blame various people who have become the face of the protests. Police have not said why they have arrested him. This is very unfortunate. Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, said that this is absolutely wrong. I believe that Bangladesh is also treating Hindus the same way Pakistan used to treat them. People who take a stand for Hindus are arrested in this way, which is wrong. Our government should intervene in this. If the government does not say anything, atrocities on Hindus will continue.
