More than a thousand Canadian Hindu community members gathered in Brampton on Tuesday to express concern over rising violence against Hindus in Canada, in the wake of a Khalistani attack on a Hindu temple in Canada.
The protest took place outside the Hindu Sabha Temple, one of the largest temples in Canada, with participants from across Ontario taking part in a peaceful rally demanding security and accountability.
The protest, organized by the Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA), highlighted the growing sense of insecurity among Canadian Hindus. CoHNA shared details of the rally on X (formerly Twitter), encouraging Hindu immigrants to stand in solidarity and urging Canadian authorities to address the rise in incidents of targeted violence.
Protesters said the solidarity rally was being organized to put pressure on Canadian politicians and law enforcement agencies to stop supporting the Khalistanis. CoHNA highlighted several attacks on Hindu temples across Canada during the Diwali weekend and called for a stop to “Hinduphobia” in the country.
The post read, “Over a thousand #CanadianHindus gather in Brampton to protest against increasing attacks on Hindu temples.” It further said, “Yesterday, during the holy #Diwali weekend, Hindu temples were attacked from coast to coast across Canada. We urge Canada to stop this #Hinduphobia immediately!”
