A powerful explosion rocked a residential high-rise building in an affluent area of Shenzhen city in southern China, causing nearby skyscrapers to shake. The Shenzhen Fire Brigade said it had dispatched 16 fire trucks and 80 rescue personnel after receiving reports of an emergency at the complex. A video posted by broadcaster Phoenix TV showed flames engulfing the building’s exterior and thick smoke billowing into the air. A 30-year-old man surnamed Zhang, who works in a nearby office building, told Reuters that suddenly, there was a loud bang and tables shook.
