The Canadian Department of National Defense later confirmed that the first aircraft, a Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) CC-150 Polaris with tail number ’01’, encountered a “maintenance problem”. Subsequently, a flight CF002 was diverted from the United Kingdom to India to bring back the 51-year-old Canadian leader.
