India Saudi Deal: After Russia, Jaishankar held a meeting with Saudi, what new web is the Foreign Minister weaving?

The Strategic Partnership Council was established in 2019 following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Saudi Arabia in October 2019. The Committee reviewed the progress achieved by the four Joint Working Groups. Agriculture and Food Security; energy; Technology and Information Technology; and industry and infrastructure. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in the national capital today. The two leaders met at Hyderabad House in Delhi. Subsequently, the two leaders began deliberations for the second meeting of the Political, Security, Social and Cultural Committee of the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council. Jaishankar shared the initial meeting between the two leaders on the social media platform X. In his post he welcomed Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan in New Delhi. He said that a meaningful discussion is expected today. Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud arrived in India on Tuesday night for his two-day visit.

Their diplomatic relations were established in 1947. The historic visit of King Abdullah to India in January 2006 was a watershed moment which resulted in the signing of the ‘Delhi Declaration’. This was followed by the ‘Riyadh Declaration’ in 2010, which elevated bilateral relations to a strategic partnership. Prime Minister’s visit. In April 2016 in Riyadh, Narendra Modi expressed his desire to enhance cooperation in political, economic, security and defense sectors. During the visit, King Salman awarded the Honorable Prime Minister the King Abdulaziz Sash, the Kingdom’s highest civilian honour, which reflects the importance Saudi Arabia attaches to its relations with India.
