Investigation report in murder case against Hasina should be submitted by November 28: Bangladesh court
Dhaka. A Bangladesh court on Saturday ordered the police to submit the investigation report of the murder case registered against the country’s former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 23 others by November 28. This information was given in the media report. This case of murder has been registered in connection with the death of an 18-year-old college student in Mirpur, Dhaka. The student’s death came amid a crackdown by the Hasina-led Awami League government on massive student-led protests. Due to these demonstrations, Hasin had to leave the post of Prime Minister.
Hasina, 77, had left the country for India on August 5 amid violent protests against the controversial reservation system in government jobs. Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ziadur Rahman ordered the investigation report to be submitted by November 28, ‘Daily Star’ newspaper reported. The case was filed on August 15 by the deceased’s brother, who claimed that the accused were directly involved in or facilitated the violence that led to the death of his brother and injuries to other students.
Apart from Hasina, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former Law Minister Anisul Haq and former Inspector General of Police Chaudhry Abdullah Al-Mamun are also accused in this case. According to a report, 225 cases are registered against Hasina, including 194 cases of murder, 16 cases of crimes against humanity and genocide, three cases of kidnapping, 11 cases of attempt to murder and one related to the attack on the rally of ‘Bangladesh Nationalist Party’.
