Islamabad: Pakistan ruled out the possibility of talks with India on bilateral issues during External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s upcoming visit to Islamabad to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. Earlier, it was said from the Indian side that Jaishankar will lead the delegation to Pakistan to participate in the SCO summit in Islamabad. However, Jaishankar has ruled out the possibility of bilateral talks during his visit to Pakistan.

‘Pakistan has received the information’

Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that Pakistan will host the 23rd Council of Heads of Government of SCO member states in Islamabad from October 15 to 16. Responding to a question about Jaishankar’s visit and India-Pakistan relations, he said that Pakistan has received ‘official information regarding this visit’ and is ready to welcome all the members.

‘Jaishankar’s visit is for a multilateral program’

Zahra Baloch said, “With regard to your question about bilateral meetings, I would like to refer you to the comments made by the Indian External Affairs Minister on October 5, in which she had said that her visit is for a multilateral event, not That to discuss Pakistan-India relations. These comments are self-explanatory.” Giving details of the SCO meeting, Baloch said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will chair the upcoming CHG meeting.
