North Korea may have completed preparations for its seventh nuclear test and is close to testing a long-range missile capable of reaching the US.

North Korea has confirmed the test of a new intercontinental ballistic missile. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that the test was conducted on Thursday on the orders of Kim Jong Un.

KCNA said its flight was higher than any missile previously tested. According to KCNA, Kim was present at the test site. The agency quoted Kim as saying the test was “an appropriate military action” that reflected North Korea’s determination to respond to the actions of its enemies.

A day earlier, South Korea’s military intelligence agency told lawmakers that North Korea may have completed preparations for its seventh nuclear test and is close to testing a long-range missile capable of reaching the US.
