A Pakistani court on Wednesday granted bail to former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi, jailed in the Toshakhana corruption case related to the alleged illegal sale of government gifts, nearly nine months after her arrest. According to the news of ‘Geo News’, Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb of Islamabad High Court granted bail to 50-year-old Bushra Bibi on a bond of Rs 10 lakh. Bushra Bibi has got relief from this decision of the court.
They were arrested on January 31 after a court convicted them in a corruption case and sentenced the couple to 14 years’ imprisonment. During the hearing, Justice Aurangzeb questioned the investigating officer of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) about the need for future interrogation of Bushra Bibi. The officer confirmed that additional investigation was not required, after which the justice granted bail. A source told ‘Geo News’ that Bushra Bibi is not wanted or arrested in any other case, so she can be released after depositing the bail bond and completing the necessary procedures.
