Pakistan has tested many weapons including 155 mm SS Howitzer. All these tests have been done near Jammu and Kashmir border i.e. LOC. The 155 mm cannon is a version of the SS howitzer which is famous for its special shoot and scot (shoot and run) capability. The 155 mm cannon has been developed under the supervision of a Chinese government-owned defense company in collaboration with a Gulf country. Pakistan is conducting these tests at a time when it is strengthening defense cooperation with the Gulf, Western European countries and long-time ally Turkey. Pakistani officials have said that the 155 mm cannons have been prepared in collaboration with the Gulf country under the supervision of a state-owned Chinese defense company. Recently movement of these guns has been seen near LOC.

The blast occurred at 8.35 am near a girls secondary school located at Civil Hospital Chowk in Mastung district of the province. Mastung Deputy Commissioner Baz Muhammad Marri said in the evening that the death toll had reached nine. He said that among them are five girls, one boy, a police officer and two other persons. Earlier, Mastung District Police Officer (DPO) Miandad Umrani confirmed that seven people, including five school children, died on the spot after the blast, while one injured person succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The number of injured is around 27 and some of the injured were taken to hospitals by some local residents themselves, he said.

Banned separatist organizations have intensified their terrorist attacks in the last 2-3 months. Recently, five security personnel and workers were killed at a dam in Panjgur. TV footage after the attack showed policemen and other people surrounding a burnt vehicle. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the blast.
