According to the National Seismological Monitoring Center in Islamabad, “the epicenter was in the Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan at a depth of 220 kilometers.” Both the USGS and PMD confirmed that the earthquake occurred at 10:13 am (Pakistan time). Officials said the earthquake was felt in various areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and Punjab. Earthquakes occur frequently in Pakistan.
