Beirut: Israel has carried out a deadly airstrike in Lebanon. Meanwhile, according to two Palestinian security officials, Munir Makdah, commander of the Lebanese branch of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, the military wing of the Palestinian Fatah movement, was targeted in an Israeli attack in Beirut early Tuesday. There is a possibility of his being killed in this attack. Maqdah’s fate after this deadly attack remained unknown whether he was killed or alive.

The attack hit a building in a Palestinian refugee camp in the crowded Ain al-Hilweh neighborhood near the southern city of Sidon, the sources said. Let us tell you that this was the first attack by the IDF on the Palestinian camp, which was the largest of the many Palestinian camps in Lebanon, since the cross-border hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel began almost a year ago. State media say three civilians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Damascus.

The Israeli army also launched a massive air attack on the Syrian capital Damascus today. Three civilians were killed and nine others were injured in the attack. Syrian state media cited a military source on Tuesday morning as saying one of its representatives had been killed in an Israeli strike on Damascus. But it was not clear whether the slain representative was among the three civilians or not. Government media reported that Israeli air strikes also caused significant damage to private property. State media said earlier on Tuesday that Syrian air defenses intercepted “hostile targets” in the vicinity of Damascus three times in a row overnight, following explosions heard in the capital.
