The latest incident has come to light from London where a group of Indian students raised slogans and displayed placards in protest against a debate on Kashmir organized at the Oxford Union Society of Oxford University. Slogans like ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Oxford Union stands with terrorism’ were raised during the protests. Zafar Khan of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and Muzammil Ayub Thakur of the World Kashmir Freedom Movement, speaking in favor of a resolution to ‘view Kashmir as an independent state’ at Oxford University on Thursday evening. Indian expatriate organizations took out a rally against this debate, which also included the Oxford Hindu Society. Let us tell you that a formal letter was also issued to Oxford Union to cancel the program. The Oxford Hindu Society’s letter said that it is noteworthy that both these speakers have been involved in spreading anti-Hindu hatred and are representing organizations which have their own organizations in the UK as well as in the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. There is a connection with spreading hatred against Hindu minorities. The letter said that Hindu students feel horrified and disappointed that Oxford Union has invited a person associated with JKLF – who has a record of attacking Hindus.
In a letter written by ‘Insight UK’ to the Oxford Union, it was said that the Kashmir region has been the target of terrorism for decades, due to which thousands of Kashmiri Hindus were forced to migrate and suffered untold suffering. The letter said that Kashmir is considered an integral part of India internationally and any debate raising questions on it is a challenge to India’s sovereignty.
