Pakistan keeps running propaganda campaigns regarding Kashmir on various platforms, but India and Indians give a befitting reply to Pakistan on every platform. The latest incident has come to light from London where a group of Indian students raised slogans and displayed placards in protest against a debate on Kashmir organized at the Oxford Union Society of Oxford University. Slogans like ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Oxford Union stands with terrorism’ were raised during the protests. In his address, Professor Zafar Khan made all kinds of allegations against the Indian government, army and media regarding Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistani media has even claimed that during this session many Indian students were also present who supported the proposal that Jammu and Kashmir should be recognized as an independent country to resolve the issue.
On the other hand, in the videos of the program which are currently viral on social media, it can be clearly seen that Indian students protested fiercely during this period. Indian Oxford Union member Adarsh Mishra intervened during the debate and said, “JKLF is a terrorist organisation.” According to a video shared on ‘X’ by community organization Insight UK, Adarsh Mishra was heard saying. “I have no confidence in this forum and I have moved a no-confidence motion against the president (of the Oxford Union),” Adarsh Mishra can be heard saying, adding that Zafar Khan and Muzammil Ayub Thakur “(Pakistani intelligence agency) Working as puppets for ISI and Pakistan. Indian expatriate organizations took out a rally against this debate, which also included the Oxford Hindu Society. Let us tell you that a formal letter was also issued to Oxford Union to cancel the program. The Oxford Hindu Society’s letter said that it is noteworthy that both these speakers have been involved in spreading anti-Hindu hatred and are representing organizations which have their own organizations in the UK as well as in the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. There is a connection with spreading hatred against Hindu minorities. The letter said that Hindu students feel horrified and disappointed that Oxford Union has invited a person associated with JKLF – who has a record of attacking Hindus.
In a letter written by ‘Insight UK’ to the Oxford Union, it was said that the Kashmir region has been the target of terrorism for decades, due to which thousands of Kashmiri Hindus were forced to migrate and suffered untold suffering. The letter said that Kashmir is considered an integral part of India internationally and any debate raising questions on it is a challenge to India’s sovereignty. Let us tell you that Oxford Union was established in 1823. There has been vigorous debate here on various topics.
