Quad leaders issued a joint statement, know what they said about South China Sea, Russia-Ukraine war and terrorism

QUAD Leaders Joint Statement

Quad Summit 2024: The heads of state of India, America, Japan and Australia attended the Quad summit held in the US. The Quad summit discussed issues ranging from the Russia-Ukraine war to terrorism in the world and China. The Quad leaders issued a joint statement saying that we are seriously concerned about the situation in the East and South China Sea. We continue to express our serious concern about the militarization of disputed features and coercive and intimidating maneuvers in the South China Sea.

Joint statement issued regarding South China Sea: The joint statement of the Quad leaders said, “We reaffirm that maritime disputes must be resolved peacefully and in accordance with international law.”

Concern expressed over the ongoing war in Ukraine: The joint statement by Quad leaders said “We express our deep concern at the ongoing war in Ukraine, which has terrible and tragic humanitarian consequences.

Condemnation of North Korea’s missile tests: The joint statement by Quad leaders said, “We condemn North Korea’s destabilizing ballistic missile launches. These launches pose a serious threat to international peace and stability.”

Condemnation of terrorism: The joint statement by Quad leaders said, “We unequivocally condemn terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms and manifestations, including cross-border terrorism.

A joint statement was also issued regarding the United Nations Security Council

The Quad leaders also said in their joint statement, “Recognizing the urgent need to make the UN Security Council more representative, inclusive, transparent, efficient, effective, democratic, and accountable, including through expansion of its permanent and non-permanent categories of membership. This expansion of permanent seats should include representation from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean in a reformed Security Council.”
