Islamabad: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman and former Foreign Minister of Pakistan Bilawal Bhutto Zardari advocated bilateral talks with India. While talking to a Pakistani news channel, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that both India and Pakistan are members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Both the countries should hold bilateral talks on the occasion of the 23rd meeting of SCO. He said, “Why be so strict, talks between the two countries are necessary, whether today or tomorrow. Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has reached Pakistan to attend the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. It is noteworthy that Jaishankar has already ruled out any possibility of bilateral talks during SCO. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2024 is taking place on 15-16 October in Islamabad, Pakistan. The theme of the summit, “Strengthening Multilateral Dialogue; Striving Towards Sustainable Peace and Prosperity”, focuses on cooperation and progress.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Goa last year. In 2011, Pakistan’s then Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar visited India and held talks with her then counterpart SM Krishna.
