Peshawar: Terrorists have carried out a deadly attack on a police van in Pakistan’s restive north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Two Pakistan Police personnel have died in this. This attack took place on a police van during patrolling today. It is being told that suspected terrorists suddenly attacked the van. At least two policemen were killed and three were injured in this attack. Terrorists ambushed a police van near Pathan Kot in Tank district. The injured have been admitted to a hospital at the district headquarters.
After the incident, Pakistan Police has intensified efforts to arrest the accused. Raids and search operations are being conducted at many places. At present no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gundapur strongly condemned the firing on the police van and expressed grief over the death of two police officers. The Chief Minister has announced financial assistance for the families of the slain policemen. “The police have made exemplary sacrifices to protect the lives and property of people,” he said.
Continuous terrorist attacks on Pakistan
Such terrorist attacks have been happening continuously on Pakistan for the last few days. The Chief Minister said that such cowardly actions by the terrorists will not lower the morale of the police. Police said that earlier on Wednesday, unknown gunmen in the province shot dead a local leader of the Shia community. He said that Hamid Askari, a resident of tribal district Orakzai, was murdered by two unknown assailants on Old Jail Road in Kohat district. Meanwhile, a Frontier Corps (FC) soldier, who was on leave to meet his family, was abducted from Tank district on Wednesday. Groups affiliated with the Pakistani Taliban have claimed responsibility for the kidnapping. (Language)
