American space agency NASA has informed that there will be further delay in its space mission with astronauts. The first astronaut flight around the Moon will now be delayed even further. Now people will have to make more arrangements. Earlier the plan was to send astronauts around the Moon in 2025. But now this plan has been postponed till April 2026. In this mission four astronauts will travel around the Moon. The upcoming Artemis II mission, which aims to send four astronauts on a flight around the Moon. Now rescheduled for April 2026, while the subsequent Artemis III lunar landing mission is scheduled for mid-2027, a year later than previously planned.

During a press conference at NASA Headquarters, Nelson attributed these delays to issues related to the Orion crew capsule’s heat shield, which was damaged during its uncrewed test flight in 2022. The heat shield experienced cracks and corrosion during re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere, raising concerns about its performance for future crewed missions. To address these issues, NASA decided to modify the capsule’s return trajectory for Artemis II while retaining the current heat shield design. This approach is intended to avoid more extensive delays that would have resulted from redesigning the heat shield.
