Trump or Harris, Jaishankar's big statement came just before the US elections

ANI

Jaishankar said that we have seen steady progress in our relations with the US during the last 5 presidents, including Trump’s previous presidency. Therefore, when we look at the US elections, we are confident that whatever the decision, our relations with the US will only grow.

Voting is going to take place today for the historic presidential election in America. Republican Party leader Donald Trump and his Democratic Party rival Kamala Harris visited key election states and gave their campaign ending speeches ahead of voting day. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held a joint press conference with his Australian counterpart Penny Wong to discuss various issues of global importance. The External Affairs Minister also talked about the US Presidential elections.

Jaishankar said that we have seen steady progress in our relations with the US during the last 5 presidents, including Trump’s previous presidency. Therefore, when we look at the US elections, we are confident that whatever the decision, our relations with the US will only grow. The US presidential elections will see the Democrats led by VP Kamala Harris and the Republicans led by former US President Donald Trump face off as voting begins on November 5. Harris was nominated as the Democratic nominee after President Joe Biden left the presidential race amid growing concerns over her age. This was especially so after his poor performance in the debate with Donald Trump in June.

She is the first woman, first black and first Asian American vice president. If elected president, 59-year-old Harris will become the first woman in history to become US president. The Vice President is only the second woman nominated for the presidency by a major political party. Commenting on President Donald Trump and the QUAD grouping, Jaishankar told the media that in the context of the Quad it was revived in 2017 under the Trump presidency. During the Trump presidency it was moved from the level of a permanent secretary to a minister. One of the rare physical meetings of country ministers was actually that of the Quad in Tokyo in 2020. So I think that should tell us something.
