At least 26 people have died due to the storm and more than 150,000 people have been forced to leave their homes and move to safer places. Cyclone Trami caused torrential rains, causing widespread flooding and landslides. Cars were washed away on the roads due to floods. The government has announced the closure of schools and colleges.

Rescue operations continued for a second day to save millions of people after Tropical Storm Trami hit the northeastern province. People trapped on the roofs of houses are being rescued with the help of motorboats. Strong winds were blowing at speeds of up to 95 kilometers per hour in Aguinaldo town in the mountainous province of Ifugao. The Bicol region was badly affected due to floods and landslides. Most of the people died due to drowning in flood water.

1500 policemen have been sent to the affected areas for relief and rescue operations. Regional police chief Brigadier Andre Dizon said, “We can’t rescue everyone at once because the number of people is so high. We need additional motor boats. We can rescue those affected who cannot be evacuated immediately.” “We are considering ways to deliver food and other essential items.” Officials said that the weather remained extremely bad, due to which rescue operations were becoming difficult.
