Beijing: India’s neighbouring country China on Thursday said that it strictly follows the policy of no first use of nuclear weapons. It also said that the recent launch of intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) will not have any effect on it. Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, spokesman of China’s National Defense Ministry, said, “China’s nuclear policy is very stable and consistent. We strictly follow the nuclear policy of no first use of nuclear weapons and adopt a nuclear strategy of self-defense.”

He declined to provide further details about the ICBM launched on Wednesday, saying it should be stressed that it was in line with international law and international practice and was not aimed at any specific country or target.
Photos of ICBM launch published
The Chinese military published pictures of an ICBM launch on Thursday. The People’s Liberation Army Rocket Force made public four pictures of the missile being fired. According to the Chinese newspaper ‘China Daily’, this is an unusual step for the PLA as it has rarely published pictures of its intercontinental ballistic missiles. China’s Defense Ministry said on Wednesday that China has tested an intercontinental ballistic missile in the Pacific Ocean. (Input- Bhasha)
