Washington: America has taken a big step on Friday after Iran fired about 180 missiles at Israel on October 1. According to reports, America has announced new sanctions on Iran’s energy sector in response to the missiles being fired on Israel. Iran had said that Israel had fired missiles at it in response to the series of horrific attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon in recent weeks. Let us tell you that Hezbollah has the support of Iran. Hezbollah has been firing rockets at Israel since the fighting in Gaza began.
Ban imposed on companies engaged in transportation of oil
The sanctions announced by the US on Friday include sanctions on Iran’s so-called ‘secret fleet’ of ships and companies associated with it. These ships and companies are located in the United Arab Emirates, Liberia, Hong Kong and other regions of the world and are allegedly engaged in transporting Iranian oil to buyers in Asia. Apart from this, the US State Department has also nominated a network of companies based in Suriname, India, Malaysia and Hong Kong for arranging the sale and transportation of petroleum and petroleum products from Iran.
America’s NSA Jake Sullivan gave a statement
Let us tell you that the current US law gives the right to impose sanctions on Iran’s energy sector as well as foreign companies buying, selling and transporting Iranian oil. But energy sanctions have often been a delicate issue because restricting supply could drive up prices of global commodities that the US and its allies need. US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said the new sanctions would further deprive Iran of the financial resources it uses to fund its missile program.
Americans will not be able to establish business relations with Iran
Jake Sullivan also said that this ban will also affect the terrorist organizations being nurtured by Iran which pose a threat to America, its friends and allies. The US has taken this drastic step to prevent Iranians or Iran-backed people from using the American financial system and to prevent American citizens from doing business with them. (Language)
