Pakistani notorious terrorist Hafiz Saeed has been sentenced to five years by a local court. On Wednesday, the court gave this decision in the Terror Funding Case against him. His colleagues Hafiz Abdul Salam bin Mohammed, Mohammad Ashraf and Professor Zafar Iqbal were also arrested under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997. On behalf of the government, Mufti Abdur Rauf Vato presented his stand and presented witnesses. According to him, statements of 23 witnesses were recorded during this period. Pakistan newspaper Dawn was quoted as saying that Deputy Prosecutor General Abdul Rauf Wattu said that six cases against the accused were pending in the court, of which four were under process to produce evidence. All four cases will be heard by the end of this week.
During the hearing last month, Hafiz was handed a list of questions in court. A court official said after a closed-door hearing that Hafiz dismissed all charges against him. He did not confess his crime. Hafiz declared himself innocent in court.
The Anti-Terrorism Department of the Punjab Police of Pakistan had registered 23 FIRs against Hafiz and his accomplices in various cities of Punjab. These terrorists are accused of providing financial assistance to the terrorists. Hafiz was arrested on July 17 last year. Since then Hafiz has been lodged in Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.
