A peace deal was reached between the US and Afghanistan militant group Taliban on Saturday. If the Taliban complies with the agreement, the US and its allies will withdraw all their troops from Afghanistan within 14 months. Washington and Kabul said this in a joint statement on Saturday. After this agreement, the US can begin to take out its army. During the talks, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo urged the Taliban to fulfil their promise to end relations with al-Qaeda. This historic agreement between the US and the Taliban took place in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
The declaration said that within 135 days of the signing of the agreement on Saturday, the United States and its allies would withdraw their 8,600 troops. It said that after that these countries would “withdraw all their troops from Afghanistan within 14 months.”
US President Donald Trump has appealed to the Afghan people to take advantage of the opportunity to weave a new future. He said the agreement is expecting to end the 18-year-long conflict. The US is going to have a presidential election in 2020. In the last election campaign, Trump had capitalized on the question of the withdrawal of US troops stationed in Afghanistan for two decades. But before the elections, Trump will be redeemed among the public after this peace deal.
