2012 Delhi Nirbhaya Case: Four convicts close to hanging, plea of Vinay dismissed from SC

Vinay Kumar Sharma, one of the culprits of the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case, received a major setback from the Supreme Court on Friday. During the hearing, the Supreme Court rejected Vinay’s plea challenging the President to reject his mercy petition. Along with Vinay’s plea, the Supreme Court also said that he was medically fit.

The four convicts Vinay Kumar Sharma, Pawan Kumar Gupta, Mukesh Singh and Akshay Singh Thakur have reached close to hanging after Vinay’s plea was also dismissed by the Supreme Court.

Let me tell you that different types of maneuvers are being adopted to avoid the death penalty. In this series, Vinay filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the President’s dismissal of the mercy petition.

The lawyer of the convict gave many arguments

Lawyer AP Singh had questioned the process of dismissing the mercy petition, saying that the Lieutenant Governor had not signed the file for sending the mercy petition.
The lawyer requested the court to show the file but the court rejected the demand. But the government presented the original file in the court which the court saw. Seeing the file, the court found that it was signed by the concerned minister and the Deputy Governor of the Delhi government.

Let us tell you that on December 16, 2012, six people were gang-raped with Nirbhaya in Vasant Vihar area of ​​Delhi. Among them, Ram Singh committed suicide in Tihar Jail and a minor has completed his sentence. On the other hand, Vinay Kumar Sharma, Pawan Kumar Gupta, Mukesh Singh and Akshay Singh Thakur have been sentenced to death by the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court after the trial court.
