A committee of technical experts is preparing the draft of the course of Forestry University.

At its inauguration ceremony on September 6, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced the creation of a Forestry College in Gorakhpur Forest Division. Later, in a meeting with officials regarding this, he expressed his intention to build a Forestry University City instead of a Forestry College.

Gorakhpur. As per the intention of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, another big achievement is going to be recorded in the Gorakhpur Forest Division. The first Forestry University (Forestry University) of North India and the second in the entire country will be opened under this Forest Division which has opened the world’s first King Vulture (Jatayu) Conservation Centre. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced this about a month ago. While intensifying the efforts for establishing the university, Gorakhpur Forest Division has also identified 50 hectares of land near Jatayu Conservation Centre.

The world’s first Jatayu Conservation and Promotion Center has been built in Campierganj (Bharivaisi) of Gorakhpur Forest Division for the conservation and promotion of endangered Red Headed Vultures. At its inauguration ceremony on September 6, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced the creation of a Forestry College in Gorakhpur Forest Division. Later, in a meeting with officials regarding this, he expressed his intention to build a Forestry University City instead of a Forestry College. As per the intention of the Chief Minister, officials have started preparations. Along with designing the courses to be run in the Forestry University, the search for land to build the university was started. After looking at some lands, Gorakhpur Forest Division has prima facie found 50 hectares of land near Jatayu Conservation Center suitable for setting up a Forestry University. Since geographically this land is in Maharajganj district, Gorakhpur Forest Division has corresponded with the government to allot it in the name of Forestry University.

Social and agro-forestry will also be studied

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Gorakhpur, Vikas Yadav, says that along with completing the necessary procedures for the establishment of Forestry University, the draft of the courses to be run here is also being prepared. A committee of technical experts has been formed for this. DFO says that apart from forestry, there is a plan to conduct degree and diploma courses in agro-forestry and social forestry in the Forestry University so that a large number of youth can get wide employment opportunities.

The Forestry University to be established in Gorakhpur Forest Division will be the first university of its kind not only in Uttar Pradesh but in the entire North India. Not only this, it will be the second forestry university in the country and the fourth in the world. The country’s first and the world’s third Forestry University is in Telangana, where the Forestry College and Research Institute has been upgraded to a university. Forest Research Institute, established in 1906 in Dehradun, is a deemed university.
