Despite its high victory chances, the Congress failed to oust the ruling BJP in Haryana. Meanwhile, India Bloc parties have already criticized the Congress for being overconfident and not taking allies on board. While Shiv Sena-UBT and National Conference criticized Congress for the defeat, Samajwadi Party has almost sidelined the oldest party in Uttar Pradesh. It has announced candidates for the upcoming assembly by-elections on 10 seats. Now Aam Aadmi Party has given a fresh blow to Congress.

Criticizing the Congress for ignoring its allies in Haryana, AAP MP Sanjay Singh said the results would have been different if the grand old party had entered into an alliance with AAP and Samajwadi Party. He said that there were strategic lapses at many levels and Congress should review it. In Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference and Congress contested the elections together and won. If something similar had happened in Haryana, if there had been an alliance with AAP or Samajwadi Party, then Jat-non-Jat politics could have been stopped. He claimed that 17 rebel candidates defeated Congress candidates in Haryana.
When asked about the Delhi Assembly elections to be held around February next year, Singh said that AAP alone is capable of defeating the BJP. “AAP fought and won in Delhi in 2013, 2015 and 2019 and will fight alone in 2024 too. Here, we are able to fight BJP alone like TMC in West Bengal,” the Rajya Sabha MP said. Notably, AAP’s disdain for the Congress came after the grand old party refused to join hands with the Aam Aadmi Party in Haryana. Haryana Assembly elections were contested separately by Congress and AAP.

In the Lok Sabha elections, AAP and Congress had joined hands for 7 seats in Delhi and 10 seats in Haryana. While they failed to win even one of the seven seats in Delhi, Congress won five seats in Haryana, while AAP did not get a single seat. Due to this, questions were also raised on the possibility of victory of the alliance.
