Speaking to ANI, Singh said that PM Narendra Modi is trying to forcefully pass the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. He does not even want to discuss in JPC, abandoning all parliamentary rules and traditions. Singh termed the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) visit as a means of drama and diverting attention from the issues.
He said that if the opposition does not attend a meeting then the quorum remains incomplete. I don’t know whether the quorum is being completed in today’s Guwahati visit or not. This JPC is a drama. JPC was just a medium to divert attention from the issues. Actually, Modi government does not want any discussion in JPC. The JPC meeting on the Waqf Amendment Bill began in Guwahati on Saturday. The Joint Committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 is conducting a study tour from November 9 to November 14 in five cities: Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Patna and Lucknow to examine the Bill.
