Mayor elections are held every year in April in Delhi. But this year the elections were delayed by 7 months. The reason for this is that the file for deciding the presiding officer was returned saying that there is no recommendation of the CM on it. At that time the then Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal was in jail. Therefore, he could not make the recommendation due to which the mayor’s election in Delhi remained pending.
Corporation elections were held in Delhi in 2022 in which 134 councilors of Aam Aadmi Party won. At the same time, Congress boycotted the mayor elections in Delhi.
