After Supreme Court's decision, political conflict over bulldozers in UP, SP and BJP face to face
Lucknow. The political atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh has heated up after the Supreme Court ordered the use of bulldozers against criminals. The court has made it clear in its order that it is not appropriate to demolish a person’s construction with a bulldozer despite being accused, and action will be taken against the officials who do so. However, the court has set aside the old illegal construction and encroachment and allowed action on it.
After this order, disputes have increased in the politics of the state. After this order, Samajwadi Party alleged that Muslims were actually targeted by the bulldozer action. SP spokesperson Amiq Jamai said that earlier it was claimed that bulldozers were used on mafia and criminals, but now this action is being taken against Muslims. He alleged that in Muslim-dominated areas like Akbarnagar, people’s houses were demolished by using bulldozers, even though there was no concrete criminal case against them. SP has demanded that a compensation of Rs 25 lakh should be given to the victims of bulldozer action. The party said that if the government does not comply with the court order, they will stand with the victims and fight for justice.

At the same time, Bharatiya Janata Party has made its stand clear on this issue. BJP law cell leader Prashant Singh Atal said that the Supreme Court has not put any stop to action against illegal construction and encroachment. He said that the court’s order is only that such action should be taken as per rules and standards. Lucknow Development Authority has the right to take action against illegal construction, provided it is completely within the law.
Thus, the Supreme Court order has given rise to a new debate regarding the legal aspects of the bulldozer operation in Uttar Pradesh. While the opposition considers it a new form of oppression, the ruling party considers it a necessary action under law and order.
