In view of the preparations for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, a big meeting of the Congress was held in Mumbai on Friday. Congress organization general secretary KC Venugopal participated in it. During this, he reviewed the party's preparations as well as gave important guidelines to the party leaders and workers to decide the election strategy.

After the meeting, KC Venugopal said that today's meeting was about preparing for the elections. There was a discussion on strengthening the Congress. We are going to remain united. Our goal is to remove this corrupt government from Maharashtra. This government is not a natural government. Our alliance performed brilliantly in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. I am confident that we will work together to remove the corrupt and illegal NDA government and form a pro-people government in Maharashtra. There is a wave of change in the country. We also won Badrinath after Ayodhya. Everyone saw what happened in the Lok Sabha elections. After that, now they have lost in the by-elections as well, which shows that changes are taking place in the country.

He said that the party has taken action against those MLAs who cross-voted in the biennial elections for 11 seats of Maharashtra Legislative Council last week. You will see its result in the future. Discipline is a very important link for our party. Regarding the ongoing politics on Kavad Yatra, he said that BJP always works to divert the issues but we will not get into that. We will not get into that politics. BJP deliberately wants to spoil the atmosphere. We will not pay attention to that issue and will continue to raise our voice in the interest of the public.

Earlier, AICC general secretary KC Venugopal and Maharashtra in-charge Ramesh Chennithala held extensive discussions with senior leaders at the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) meeting on Friday. Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole, working president Naseem Khan, Congress Legislature Party leader Balasaheb Thorat, leader of opposition in the assembly Vijay Wadettiwar, former chief ministers Sushil Kumar Shinde and Prithviraj Chavan, Mumbai Congress president Prof. Varsha Gaikwad and other leaders were present at the meeting held at Tilak Bhavan.

Venugopal said that Congress is in touch with all MVA allies. We will focus on unemployment, farmers' issues. Today we discussed the strategy of strengthening our party in the state as well as election preparations. Venugopal said that the Congress party will formally start its election campaign from August 20. This day is also the birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Discussions are going on with Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) and Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) regarding seat sharing. We have not yet decided the face. First we will take a decision on our own, then we will talk to the allies as a coalition.
