Amidst the Tirupati Laddu controversy, TTD said- 'Purity of Prasad has been restored', information given on the website

TTD issued a statement amid the controversy.

Amravati: The adulteration in the Prasad of the world famous Tirupati Balaji temple is being discussed across the country. Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu had accused the Prasad of adulteration. Now the temple trust Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has made a big statement amid the concerns of devotees about the quality of ghee used in ‘Laddu Prasadam’. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has said that the purity of this holy Prasad has been restored.

What information did TTD give

Following the ongoing controversy over the prasad, the TTD, which manages the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple located on Tirumala hills, posted a post on social media on Friday night. In the post, the temple board said, “The divinity and sanctity of Srivari Laddu is now untainted. TTD is committed to maintaining the sanctity of Laddu Prasadam for the satisfaction of all devotees.”

What is the controversy

The board managing the country’s richest temple on Friday revealed that it had detected adulteration of poor quality ghee and fat in samples sent for quality check. The claim of adulteration of laddus with animal fat was made two days ago by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. After the previous YSR Congress Party government was blamed for the issue, former Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy called it “diversionary politics” and a “fabricated story”.

Central government sought report

After the entire controversy, the central government has sought a report from the Andhra Pradesh government on this matter and has promised to take appropriate action. Union Food Minister Prahlad Joshi has said that the allegations will be investigated. TTD on Friday cited a laboratory report and said that ‘fat’ and other impurities have been found in the ghee. TTD Executive Officer J. Shyamala Rao said that animal fat and grease have been found in the samples in the laboratory test and the board is in the process of ‘blacklisting’ the contractor who supplied this ‘adulterated’ ghee.
